| This vessel was surveyed on January 9, 2000 at the Canadian Coast Guard Base, Port Dartmouth, Canada. She is currently located in Canada and is being maintained by professional and Coast Guard-trained personnel.
Following are extracts from the survey report:
"CARUSO" is a fully-welded, geared, twin-screw, ice-strengthened vessel, having been engaged in national Canadian waters as a buoy-handling and search-and-rescue vessel operated by the Canadian Coast Guard. The entire standard, both when the vessel was built and her maintenance throughout the years, has always been at the highest level possible.
The general condition of the vessel is very good, and all the available log books and maintenance reports have been studied and found to be satisfactory.
The original general arrangement plans have been studied; new plans for exterior modifications and new deck layouts have been made. This shows the excellent potential of the vessel to be converted into a Charter Exploration Vessel. From the technical point of view, she is an excellent candidate for conversion. The following make her even more attractive and special in terms of marketing her:
Ice-strengthened hull for Arctic cruises
Full helicopter capability
Diesel-electro propulsion (very quiet, vibration-free, flexible in operation)
Longe-range capability - 5,000 / 11,000 nautical miles
Possibility of carrying large tenders
Replacement value for the vessel, as-is, and ready for conversion is US$17,710,000, but due to the owners change of plans she can be purchased at the minimal price of $ 650,000.
The Owners of Caruso undertook the conversion of "GIANT I" and completed the transformation of the 245' Ice Class Ocean-Going Salvage Tug into a remarkable luxury Adventure yacht . Subsequently they turned their attention to the sister ship of Caruso that is currently in the final stages of a conversion into a luxury world wide Expedition Vessel. The full design and engineering plans for that conversion valued at approximately $ 1.5m will be given free to the buyer of Caruso.
"CARUSO" can be converted to an equally-stunning Expedition Yacht, classified to MCA world charter standards and offering superb accommodations for (12) charter guests, capable of accommodating up to (20) private guests.
